Your Weekly, Sunday Interlude: “(What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding”

Last week might have been the best we’ve had in almost a year. Mueller’s indicting and already got George Papadopoulos to flip. We feel less crazy that this really was a coup. It’s far from over. Still, I finally felt, after 51 weeks, like I might not physically explode, after all. Time for a reset.

That spirit called for Elvis Costello’s “(What’s So Funny ’Bout) Peace, Love & Understanding,” because this song always helps the mind, body and spirit reset.

The song was written by English singer-songwriter, musician, and producer. Nick Lowe in 1974. Peace, love and understanding are strong and enduring truths. And they will conquer any wrong or evil. Resist.

And as I walked on
Through troubled times
My spirit gets so downhearted sometimes
So where are the strong
And who are the trusted?
And where is the harmony?
Sweet harmony.
‘Cause each time I feel it slippin’ away, just makes me want to cry.
What’s so funny ’bout peace love & understanding? Ohhhh
What’s so funny ’bout peace love & understanding?
